Moving water
The bass are eating it up. With all the rain we have had in the last couple of weeks with the hurricanes and normal summer rains, all of the creeks and rivers are flowing full out. As a rule the more flow the more fish and this seems to be the case again this year. We are having days with over 100 fish in six hours regularly. While most fish are school size (1 to 3 pounds) fish, there are some bigger fish to be had with the biggest this week being just over 7 pounds. The fish can be caught on rattle traps and worms. Cast the bait into the moving water and letting the bait sweep with the current has been the best presentation.
All of the water in the lake that is moving has fish. I say this because most fishermen are looking at the mouth of the rivers and we have to remember the water that goes thru the locks comes across the lake from somewhere. Any place where the water constricts creates a current flow point. These flow points concentrate bait thus the bass concentrate in numbers proportional to the bait. Look for feeding fish on the surface is a good way to locate these fish in the open lake.
